Blu Sky's Cafe did not start as a generic cafe concept. It grew out of home baking, years of planning, a lot of persistence, and a brother-sister partnership that kept moving until the right building in downtown Eaton was finally theirs.

Origins

From a family baking spark to a full cafe

According to the owners' April 24, 2025 Voyage Ohio interview, the business traces back to a baking competition held in honor of a family friend. A best-in-show German chocolate cake helped turn encouragement into momentum, and Skylar's bakery talent quickly led to cake and dessert orders for all kinds of occasions.

Tannar pushed the long-term vision forward while Skylar kept sharpening the baking side of the business. Blu Sky's Bakery launched on Facebook in 2014, the pair expanded into concession food service in 2023, and the Eaton storefront finally opened in August 2024 after years of saving and searching.

Blu Sky's Bakery launches on Facebook

After a baking competition honoring a family friend sparked momentum, Skylar’s home-bakery work grew into Blu Sky’s Bakery, focused on decorated cakes and specialty orders.

2023

Blu Sky’s Enterprise LLC forms

The business expanded into concession food service with breakfast and lunch offerings, while keeping the larger bakery-and-cafe plan intact under one LLC.

June 6, 2024

The Main Street building closes

After Tannar had pursued the building since 2017, the siblings finally closed on the downtown Eaton property and moved from planning mode into execution.

August 6, 2024

Blu Sky's Cafe soft-opens

Following a roughly 30-day remodel completed around full-time jobs, the cafe opened and turned years of saving, prep, and belief into a real downtown destination.
